Mazda offers one of the most beautifully designed and refined lineups in the industry, delivering bold and stylish vehicles that help you create fantastic memories on the road. While Mazda’s sedans are some of our favorites, since so many other brands seem to have forgotten that cars are a thing, the remarkable SUVs that you’ll find here at Lee Johnson Mazda of Seattle, your Mazda dealer near Brier, are equally impressive. These are excellent vehicles that are fun to drive, with performance that’s perfect for dealing with rainy days and rough winters in Brier and all around the Seattle area. You have five terrific SUVs available from Mazda these days, so let’s take a look at each of them to see what they offer and try to figure out which one is right for you.

The Mazda CX-30

If you’re looking for the smallest option possible, the CX-30 is the SUV for you in Mazda’s lineup. This is a stylish and approachable subcompact SUV that packs a surprising amount of power and terrific capability into such a small frame. Like the rest of Mazda’s SUVs, the 2024 CX-30 comes with all-wheel drive standard on every trim. This is one of our favorite things about the Mazda lineup for Brier drivers; AWD is ideal for keeping your vehicle in control when the weather gets unpleasant, so not having to choose an extra option to get it is perfect.

There are two engines available for the 2024 Mazda CX-30, which isn’t something you see too often in a subcompact model like this. The standard engine is a 2.5L I-4 with 191 hp and 186 lb-ft of torque; an available 2.5L turbocharged engine boosts that up to 250 hp and 320 lb-ft of torque. These are both perfect for your daily commute in Brier, running errands, and enjoying yourself on the weekend; plus, you get terrific features inside, like a 10.25-inch infotainment display, remote keyless entry with push-button start, and much more. With its subcompact design, you get about 20 cu.ft. of cargo space in the trunk of the 2024 CX-30 and just over 45 cu.ft. of total cargo volume behind the front seats.

The Mazda CX-5

Next up, we have the Mazda CX-5, which is the last holdout from an earlier era in the Mazda lineup—other models like the CX-3, CX-7, and CX-9 have been replaced by the CX-30, CX-70, and CX-90 but the CX-5 keeps holding strong. That says something about how much people love this compact SUV and everything it brings to the road; even with the new CX-50 in the Mazda lineup, the CX-5 is still a fantastic option. The CX-5 has a lot in common with the CX-50, so either one of them can be a terrific pick if you’re struggling to decide which one’s right for you.

The 2024 CX-5 has two engines available, much like the CX-30: a standard 187-hp 2.5L I-4 engine and an available 2.5L turbocharged beauty with 256 hp and 320 lb-ft of torque. You can see this is nearly identical to the performance you can get with the CX-30, and much like that smaller SUV, you get AWD standard on every CX-5. Due to the larger size of the CX-5, it can handle a bit of towing—up to 2,000 lbs when properly equipped—and offers more than 30 cu.ft. of rear cargo space along with almost 60 cu.ft. of total cargo volume inside. You get a gorgeous 10.25-inch infotainment display standard inside the CX-5, along with other beautiful and refined details to help you enjoy your drive.

The Mazda CX-50

As we said, the Mazda CX-50 is similar to the CX-5 in some key ways, so either one works very well if you’re looking for a compact SUV that you can easily fit into your lifestyle. You’ll find the same engines and performance with the CX-50, and its size is quite similar overall, though improvements to its design and engineering mean the CX-50, with its available turbocharged engine, can handle up to 3,500 lbs of towing when properly equipped. This is a pretty big jump over the CX-5, making it a terrific choice for hauling a boat to Lake Washington or Puget Sound for the weekend. Much like the previous models we looked at, this is a two-row SUV with seating for up to five passengers; standard features for the 2024 CX-50 include a leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear selector, a 10.25-inch infotainment display, and a seven-inch meter display.

The Mazda CX-70

If you’re looking for something a bit larger than the models we’ve checked out so far, then the Mazda CX-70 is a great choice. This is a brand-new SUV coming for the 2025 model year, which means it has a stunning new design and all of the latest features and options on it. Its midsize design is perfect if you want an SUV that’s bigger than a compact option, but you don’t need a larger vehicle with more seats. This is still a two-row model with a spacious interior that will keep all of your passengers quite comfortable.

You have several exciting engines available for this beauty, starting with a 3.3L turbocharged I-6 engine with a mild hybrid system that delivers 280 hp and 332 lb-ft of torque. An upgraded version of this engine is available that boosts performance up to 340 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque, making this an amazing option if you want bold, exhilarating performance. Perhaps most interesting of all, there’s a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) version of the CX-70 available that gives you an estimated 26 miles of all-electric range, making it perfect for quick trips around Brier, and up to 490 miles of range from a full tank of gas. With a standard 12.3-inch infotainment display and up to 5,000 lbs of towing capacity, this is a fantastic SUV that meets a wide range of needs.

The Mazda CX-90

Finally, we come to the Mazda CX-90, which is a larger model that gives you a third row of seating inside for more passengers to come along with you. You have a couple of configurations available inside the CX-90, including a second-row bench seat for eight-passenger seating or a pair of captain’s chairs in the second row, which gives you room for seven people to be incredibly comfortable. Inspired by Japanese design and a Japanese stitching technique known as “kakenui,” the interior of the CX-90 looks absolutely stunning.

Three different engines are available for the CX-90, which are the same three options that you can get with the CX-70. This gives you amazing freedom to get the kind of power and performance you’re looking for, including an option that transforms the CX-90 into a nimble PHEV that lets you go further between stops for gas. Thanks to its larger design, you get almost 16 cu.ft. of cargo space in the trunk, with more than 40 cu.ft. of cargo volume behind the second row of seats and more than 75 cu.ft. of total cargo space inside the CX-90. All of this comes together to create a gorgeous SUV that’s perfect if you have a growing family or need extra room to bring a lot of people along with you.

Amazing SUVs for Discerning Drivers

As you can see, no matter what you’re looking for in your next SUV, the Mazda lineup has you covered with innovative and beautifully designed options. From the subcompact and stylish CX-30 to a pair of compact models, the midsize CX-70 with its middle-way design, and the bold and powerful CX-90, there’s something here for pretty much everyone. All you have to do is decide on the kinds of features that you’re looking for in your next ride, and then we can help you consider what Mazda offers and make sure you find the perfect vehicle. With the right SUV, it’s easy to go about your daily routine in Brier, enjoy your time off, and even plan your next big road trip for your family. That’s the power and freedom that choosing a great SUV provides, which is why the remarkable Mazda lineup has something for everyone.
